Frequently Asked Questions for our Renovated AGAs
What is the guarantee with a renovated AGA from AGA Twyford?
With a Renovated AGA from AGA Twyford, you will get the same guarantee as you would with a brand new AGA; 5 years i.e. (1 year parts & labour, 4 years parts only). This is because we use genuine AGA parts and our enamelling is carried out by AGA at their enamelling plant, giving you the same quality finish you would expect.
How will the cooker be delivered on to site?
All our cookers are delivered to site in sectional form like a new Aga and assembled by one of our team of independent engineers. It is important that the AGA cooker is assembled by a trained engineer to ensure that the resulting operation, oven temperatures and fuel consumption are at optimum levels.
Our installers are fully trained and experienced in building AGA cookers on site. The cooker is also assembled in our factory prior to installation to ensure all castings fit together correctly.
What training/qualifications do our installers have?
Our installers are fully trained, many of them by AGA Rangemaster, and are qualified to build, install and service AGA cookers. Our installers are GAS SAFE, OFTEC and/or trained in installing electric AGA cookers to ensure your cooker is safe.
What is supplied with the AGA Cooker?
With a renovated AGA from AGA Twyford, you will receive a warranty pack, user instructions and oven shelving. You will receive an oven rack for each oven and a cold plain shelf to divide the heat in the roasting oven and allow baking. If you wish to purchase any additional AGA cookware we have a comprehensive range of both AGA Cookware and Betty Twyford products available.
What condition will the cooker arrive in?
Your cooker will arrive dis-assembled and either our driver will off load the cooker into your kitchen or designated storage area awaiting the arrival of the installation engineer or where delivered by the engineer the cooker will be installed the same day. The enamel parts of your cooker will be boxed to protect them from damage whilst the internal components such as the ovens are coated in a food safe oil to protect them.
Has the cooker been converted to burn a different fuel?
The internal castings of an AGA have changed little since 1974 which means that we can alter the fuel of a cooker on an existing post 74 AGA without making any modifications to the casting (excluding solid fuel AGAs). If you elect to purchase an earlier style model, our conversions are done to AGA authorised standards which means that the re-engineered AGA is guaranteed to perform within the same specifications as a new one.
When we change the fuel of a Gas, Oil, Solid Fuel or Electric AGA to another fuel, a complete new AGA burner is put in place of the old one, and proper internal engineering changes are made to ensure performance is not compromised. This allows us to offer our 5 year guarantee as standard.
If converted, does the cooker have automatic thermostatic control?
We normally fit thermostatic controls to all our renovated AGAs unless the customer wishes otherwise. However, on certain earlier models converted to Oil, the electric head thermostatic control valve configuration is not recommended.
Have parts been replaced or just cleaned up and painted?
If and where necessary we replace parts with genuine AGA or AGA authorised parts. (Any replacement parts in our reconditioned AGA cookers are either AGA or AGA authorised parts).
The only thing that is reused is the cast iron within the cooker which is shot blasted to remove any dirt or rust. The outer cast iron front and top is re-enamelled at the AGA plant. If any cast iron part does not pass our quality assurance then it is replaced for new in any AGA cooker that we sell.
Have genuine AGA parts been used to replace worn parts?
Yes, we use genuine AGA parts, or parts approved by AGA throughout. We always fit brand new AGA or AGA approved burners and controls on all our cookers
Has the AGA got the appropriate mandatory approval?
All our renovated AGA’s carry regulatory approvals and relevant CE marking. AGA Twyford are certified manufacturers of CE marked gas burners for use in the UK and many European countries.
Does the cooker come with any service history?
A reconditioned AGA from AGA Twyford does not arrive with a service history because we always replace the gas/oil burner or electric control box and element. The AGA that we provide is really starting out its life again and will almost certainly last another 50 years or more like its predecessors.
Does the dealer service AGA cookers?
The installer that builds your AGA will offer you a service contract. We have many AGA service experts who are qualified in gas, oil and/or electric AGA installations and fully certified by the relevant governing bodies for heating/cooking appliances.
What choice of models is there?

Are the gas engineers CORGI registered?
The “Corgi” qualification has been superseded by “GAS SAFE” and all installers are fully certified for the work they will carry out.
Does it contain asbestos products?
Our cookers are insulated with vermiculite and Rockwool insulation to give optimum heat retention in all of our AGA cookers. No asbestos is used in a reconditioned AGA from AGA Twyford.
Are there any hidden charges?
Any additional charges that might be applicable are exactly the same ones that you would be asked to pay for with a new AGA. Any such charges or likely charges will be advised to you at the time of order. Usually any additional costs will relate to flue or fuel feed pipework and here our engineers are usually able to offer their services thus ensuring you are not dealing with any additional tradesmen.
Is there a charge for delivery?
Unless otherwise stated a delivery charge of £150 will be made for all mainland locations in England and Wales. Deliveries to Scotland or Central London carry a £100 excess and deliveries to other locations are available on request.
Do you deliver into the kitchen?
The AGA is delivered into the kitchen prior to final assembly, however if assembly is to take place sometime after delivery due to customer requirements, then we will place the AGA in another location i.e. garage or outhouse as the customer desires, providing the area is safe, dry and secure
Is there a charge for assembly?
We always advise you of the installation charges that will be payable. In some cases the charges are included in the price of the AGA, and in some it will be additional. This is made very clear by all of our staff so there are no hidden charges in our prices.
Is there an extra charge for different colours?
We follow the same colour range and colour pricing as AGA Rangemaster. This means that our reconditioned AGA prices include any standard AGA colour but AGA signature colours incur an extra cost (as the do with a new AGA).
