Rayburn Range Installation Eco System
Having a Rayburn Range Thermal Collector installed can provide up to 65% of your annual hot water needs.

Rayburn Range Thermal Collector Benefits
With prices rising as they are, it makes sense to exploit renewable energy resources to the full. Rayburn Range Solar Thermal Collectors are highly efficient and simple to install. By linking them to a Rayburn Heatranger and an AGA Rangemaster Ltd. wood burning stove, you can enable the Sun to provide up to 65% of your hot water needs and achieve fossil fuel savings of up to 60% a year.
The Rayburn Range has a wide choice of fuel and size options available and Rayburn Range Solar Thermal Collectors can be used to augment both central heating and domestic hot water systems. Rayburn Range has always been concerned about protecting the environment and using natural resources responsibly. Solar energy is free, sustainable and non-polluting. And while the Rayburn Range's cooking prowess is well documented, it is perhaps less well known that every Rayburn Range is made in Britain from reclaimed iron and is 70% recyclable, which means that this modern system is good for the planet and your bank balance.

Combining Systems – All You Need to be in Control
Rayburn Range Solar Thermal Collectors can deliver significant cost savings and substantial environmental benefits. We have grouped together the essential components of the system into 12 standard packages, which cover almost every type and size of installation. Each pack contains an appropriate number of Solar Thermal Collectors, divided between one or two panels and either a Thermal Store or Twin Coil hot water cylinder–so there’s likely to be an ideal package for you.

The Rayburn Range Solar Thermal System – How it works
Rayburn Range Solar Thermal Collectors are constructed from a series of individual evacuated tubes (Fig. 1). These are more effective than normal flat-plate collectors, as their curved surface area allows them to passively track the Sun for a longer part of the day. The tubes convert UV rays from the sun into heat, which is transferred into a copper header pipe (fig. 2). Cool water from your cylinder is pumped through this header pipe, warmed and returned to the cylinder (Fig. 3). Rayburn Range Solar Thermal Collectors are simple to install and use tried and trusted technology. They are manufactured under ISO 9000 quality standards. Each tube is self-contained and simply “plugs” into the header pipe, which means that it can be easily replaced if damaged without draining the system.

Choosing the right system for you
Rayburn Range Solar Thermal Collectors can be used in conjunction with any Rayburn Heatranger and/or selected AGA Rangemaster Ltd. stoves. The energy they generate will augment domestic hot water, domestic central heating and underfloor heating systems. The number of collectors you require depends on how much hot water you need, which direction your roof faces and the location of your property. South facing roofs obviously offer the best performance, but similar outputs can be achieved by linking separate panels on east and west facing roofs. The type of appliances you are linking together will determine which kind of hot water cylinder/system you need. Automatic gas or oil fired appliances can be temperature controlled, whereas wood burning and solid fuel appliances need to be able to discharge all their energy into either the hot-water cylinder or appropriate radiators. The higher the number of renewable energy sources the larger the required storage capacity. For simplicity sake, we have created twelve standard packages based on the number of tubes, and the type/size of cylinder you require.
